We arrived in Banff on Friday 7/24. We were staying in Tunnel Mountain campground a little over a mile up the hill from the town of Banff. It 's a great location because it's an easy bike ride into town but also close to several bike friendly trails and sites. The campground has beautiful views all the way around. The mountains are very dramatic and feel a lot like Austria or Switzerland.
There are also many different wildflowers everywhere.
Every day we've been here we've ridden our bikes into town for lunch or dinner. It's really busy this time of year 'downtown' but a lot of fun with epic people watching.
We found The Chocolate Board of Canada, and since they say they are 'the authority on chocolate (and ice cream) we had to stop and make sure we had been eating it right all this time. We very thankful for our ebikes on the rides back to camp, since it's almost entirely uphill.
Banff really capitalizes on it's natural beauty with many gorgeous
parks and pedestrian bridges crossing the Bow River which runs though town.
We rode several trails over the past few days with great viewpoints along the river including The HooDoos formation overlooking the river bend, Bow Falls and The Banff Hotel, . We've been lucky with the smoke that has been heavy since we arrived in Canada as it's gotten progressively better while we've been here.
We loved it here becasue there is so much to see. Our plan was to leave this morning (Sunday) and head to our next stop, Lake Louise, since all the camp reservations were sold out. However, as we were driving out we got an email that there was a cancellation and spot opened up in the campground next door. So we are staying another night!
